Be careful what you wish for, voters
So I understand that the sale of the Brainerd bricks isn't going so well. Well, what did you expect?
The Libertyville residents who voted down a few bricks' worth of taxes to save and restore the graceful, still-useful Brainerd Building aren't going to now spend it on a bunch of old bricks. So now they are faced with an ugly, 8-foot wall surrounding even uglier fake grass (without public access), rather than a beautiful historic building that would have lent an air of solidity and pride to the community.
Nice addition to downtown, no?
Oh, and that memorial to the building that was promised? Turns out it ain't gonna happen. What? You mean the powers that be are reneging on a promise? Shocker.
Well, voters, you made your choice. Enjoy the view (or lack thereof) every time you drive down Route 176.
Honestly, who didn't see that coming?
I only hope we in Mundelein can learn from your very terrible mistake, and that the fate of the Old Village Hall doesn't follow suit.
