Police: 6 Florida residents found with 700 fake credit, gift cards in Aurora

Six Florida residents were arrested in Aurora this week and charged with having more than 700 fake credit and gift cards that were found in their motel rooms and cars, authorities said.

Kane County sheriff's deputies pulled over an SUV on Orchard Road near Sullivan Road in Aurora around 2:50 p.m. Monday and discovered the driver and passenger had fake Ohio driver's licenses, as well as several fake credit cards and prepaid gift cards, according to a news release.

The deputies later searched a room at a nearby Hampton Inn where the two suspects were staying and found more than 200 fake credit and gift cards. They arrested and charged Yuskel Ruiz-Lorenzo, 30, of Homestead, and Dairon Ferrerr-Marquez, 25, of Miami, with possession of a counterfeit debit/credit card, altering a debit/credit card, and possession of a fraudulent ID.

Deputies made another traffic stop related to their investigation later that day around 7 p.m. and found more fake credit and gift cards in a vehicle occupied by four people. Deputies then secured search warrants for two rooms at Comfort Suites, 111 N. Broadway, where more than 500 cards were discovered, authorities said.

Those arrested and charged with possession of a counterfeit debit/credit card and altering a debit/credit card are Mercedes Gregorio-Morffy, 43, of Hialeah Gardens; Luis Jimenez-Gonzalez, 25, of Opa-Locka; Yaniris Alfonso, 29, of Miami; and Ranset Rodriguez-Martinez, 37, of Miami.
