Is this any way to level playing field?

Barack Obama wants to "demilitarize" the nation's police forces. He worries about the symbolism and imagery of military equipment wielded by local police forces, i.e., that it sends the wrong message about the kind of society in which we live.

In this matter, he wants local police subject to his authority and social-political whimsy. Maybe he just wants to even the playing field between the police and elements of his political constituency: rioting street thugs and anarchists who torch sections of cities, loot stores, bully and brutalize residents and threaten cops.

The miscreant behavior of these people are a principal cause and circumstance of crime, intimidation and chaos in the communities infected by their predatory presence. They have a champion in the White House and allies in the media and on college campuses.

Obama frets over symbolism and imagery about public servants blending with those whom they serve. Maybe he should consider dismissing his Secret Service detail, an armed and dangerous Praetorian Guard cordoning the Supreme Leader from the warmth of his subjects. How comfortable can admirers feel with sharpshooters on roofs, helicopters whirring overhead and platoons of bodyguards menacing any who get too close.

Even as Spike Lee produces a movie, "Chiraq," about murderous disorder in Chicago communities once served by Community Organizer Obama, President/Emperor Obama would weaken or erase the "thin blue line" between civilization and chaos. Maybe it nurtures in him a homey, dystopian feel. After all, his inattentions have helped grow ISIS (Islamic State Iraq Syria) abroad. At home, his attentions grow OSUS (Obama State United States).
