Challenging Music Concert Performed by Westgate's 3rd/4th Multi-Age Classes
A beautiful music concert was recently performed by the students in Westgate's 3rd and 4th grade multi-age classes. Families enjoyed listening to seven songs that were carefully chosen by Westgate's music teachers Jerry Berger and Rachael Scherer. The students had been eagerly rehearsing for this concert for about eight weeks.
Highlights of the evening include the song "Rockin' Robin" in which half of the group played recorders while the other half sang. Students danced and played xylophones, drums, and maracas while singing the song "Four White Horses," which is also a Caribbean children's game. The most challenging part of the evening was the song "Shake the Papaya Down" in which they sang in three parts. The concert ended on a patriotic note with a gospel style medley of the songs "America" and "America the Beautiful." It was a wonderful musical evening at Westgate for all their families to enjoy!
