Penny hot dog night part of the fun at Cougars game Wednesday

One cent. A penny. One-100th of a dollar.
That's what a hot dog will cost you tonight at the Kane County Cougars baseball game in Geneva, as the minor league franchise debuts "Wiener Wednesdays."
And no, smart alecks, they aren't charging extra for the buns.
"It's a crazy promotion, isn't it?" said Shawn Touney, public relations director. "It will be cool. Our condiment stations will be stocked and ready."
Wiener Wednesdays are part of the season-long celebration of the Cougars' 25th anniversary. People will be limited to 10 hot dogs per transaction.
The hot dogs will be sold at the concession stands on the concourse, said general manager Curtis Haug. Normally, a hot dog costs $3.25.
"This is old-school," Haug said Tuesday of the promotion. The staff came up with it last fall, as they were kicking around promotional ideas. They had heard of $1, 50-cent and quarter hot dog nights, and they decided to get even crazier.
"We are going to have a lot of fun with it," Haug said.
If you find yourself short on change, you can buy pennies from Cub Scout Pack 63 of Wheaton. They will be selling 50-cent rolls of pennies for $1.
The other Wiener Wednesdays are July 8, July 22, July 29 and Aug. 12.
