The Peoples' Bank Continues Sponsorship of the Sounds of Summer\
Summer time is known for many great traditions and on June 4th one of the most popular in the suburbs returns as the Village of Arlington Heights kicks off their annual Sounds of Summer concert series. For the fourth consecutive year, the concerts will be presented through a sponsorship agreement with The Peoples' Bank of Arlington Heights.
Throughout June and July, most Thursday and Friday nights will find blankets and lawn chairs surrounding the stage at Harmony Park in downtown Arlington Heights as music of all genres is performed at free concerts. The event has grown in popularity so much in recent years that in 2014 the Village began closing off Vail Avenue along the park to allow more concert-goers to enjoy the experience.
"This event has really grown over the years but it would not be possible to continue providing this type of event twice a week without the generous sponsorship of The Peoples' Bank," said Nancy Kluz, Community Relations Coordinator for the Village. "By making a long term commitment to this event as they have, we are able to invite residents downtown all summer long to enjoy great music in a unique setting."
Last year The Peoples' Bank extended their original three year commitment to sponsor the concerts in the park that is just steps away from their downtown location at 41 South Vail. "It's a pleasure to see how full the park is for these concerts," said Peoples' Bank President Frank Appleby. "We look forward to welcoming everyone into our neighborhood again this summer. The concerts are a great family event. We hope people will come down and enjoy a visit to a local restaurant before or after the show and make a night of it."
The series kicks off June 4th with the music of Jimmy Buffett as performed by Gone 2 Paradise followed by Deacon Blues, a Steely Dan tribute band, on June 5th. All concerts begin at 7:00 pm. The full calendar of events can be found at www.vah.org.
For many years, The Peoples' Bank (www.peoplesbanc.com) has also sponsored the Frontier Days Stampede Run/Walk over the 4th of July weekend and the Arlington Heights Special Events Commission which hosts the Mane Event in August. In addition, the bank has formed a long-term relationship with the Arlington Heights Park District to sponsor their Picnic in the Park and National Night Out events each summer.
"We love summer in Arlington Heights," said Appleby, "and we do everything we can to make it a special time for our friends and neighbors to enjoy."
