Barrington High School Performing Arts Alumni Endowment - 2015 Galfer Award Winner
Barrington IL - May 21, 2015 - The BHSPAAE is pleased to announce this year's Richard C. Johnson Memorial Galfer Award recipient, Ms. Marina Oakley, a Barrington High School Senior and student in the performing arts at BHS!
Established in 2011, this is the fifth Galfer Award to be presented and is named in honor of Richard C. Johnson, the founder of the Performing Arts program at BHS and Beth and Michael Galfer, for their generous support of the performing arts at BHS. The One Thousand Dollar award recognizes a graduating senior for their participation and leadership in the performing arts at BHS. It is sponsored by the BHSPAAE, (BHS Performing Arts Alumni Endowment), a not-for-profit 501c3 organization that was formed in 2010 and is dedicated to supporting the Performing Arts at BHS and the archiving of its achievements. Ms. Oakley demonstrated an extraordinary level of participation in the performing arts program during her tenure as a student at Barrington High School, as well as bringing a generous spirit to the program. Marina's plans, after BHS, include attending Oklahoma City University this fall to work towards a BFA in Theatre Lighting Design & Production. Her contributions exemplify the legacy of excellence this vibrant program has provided its students for over sixty years. The BHSPAAE congratulates Ms. Oakley on this achievement.
The 2015 Galfer Award was presented to Marina Oakely by BHSPAAE's president, Claudette Keil and Alex Parker, son of the late scholarship founder, Marc Parker, as part of this year's BHS Thespian Banquet at the Makray Memorial Golf Club on May 21st.
