7th heaven, Infinity headlining Hoffman Estates' Northwest Fourth-Fest

Popular Chicago-area bands 7th heaven and Infinity will headline the musical entertainment next month at Northwest Fourth-Fest outside the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.

The final day of the fest - Sunday, July 5 - is being designated as Family Fun Day this year, and will feature performances by renowned children's entertainer Ralph Covert of Ralph's World and the crowd-pleasing Jesse White Tumblers.

The first two days of the fest - Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2 - will feature only the carnival from 6 to 10 p.m.

On Friday, July 3, the carnival will run from 6 to 11 p.m. and will be joined by two music acts.

Sonic 7 will begin performing at 6:30 p.m. that day, followed by 7th heaven at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 4, is of course the biggest day of the fest, which kicks off with the village's Fourth of July Parade at 9 a.m. on Illinois Boulevard.

The carnival and festival at the Sears Centre will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with an Arts & Crafts Fair held inside from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The band Brock & Abrams will begin playing at 4:30 p.m., followed by The Fortunate Sons, a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band, at 6:30 p.m.

Infinity will perform twice, first at 8:30 p.m. and then again following the conclusion of the 9:30 p.m. fireworks display.

Family Fun Day will run from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, and the Arts & Crafts Fair will resume inside the arena from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Covert from Ralph's World will perform at 2 p.m. with the Jesse White Tumblers performing at both 1 and 3:30 p.m.

Other activities and events include face painting, balloon animals, a water balloon toss, an animal exhibit, a highflying zip-line, pony rides, Lego cars and car races, food and dessert.

July 5 also will feature a golf ball drop raffle at 3 p.m. Participants can buy one of 1,200 golf balls for $10 each, which will be dropped from a Hoffman Estates Fire Department ladder truck over a golf course hole. The winner will be the ball that falls in or is closest to the hole.

The prize will be 20 percent of the proceeds, with the remaining 80 percent going toward the purchase of safety gear for the fire department.

The last musical performance of the fest will be by Exit 147 at 4:30 p.m. that day.

The Sears Centre Arena is at 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway and features free parking.
