Elburn library kicks off summer reading program

The Summer Reading program at Town and Country Public Library, 320 E. North St. in Elburn, begins with a bang on Monday, June 1.

This year's Summer Reading theme is "Read to the Rhythm." It runs June 1 to Aug. 8. The library will once again have lots of fun prizes from generous local donors to award to those who participate in Summer Reading.

Readers from preschool through high school and adults with a valid Town and Country Public Library card are eligible to participate.

The "Read to the Rhythm" music-themed summer will feature many educational, engaging, and entertaining programs and workshops.

The Summer Reading kickoff will have special musical guest Dave Rudolf at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 1. Rudolf is Grammy Award-nominated songwriter who has appeared everywhere from Disney soundtracks to Ravinia concerts. His brand of interactive music and comedy is a sure hit with children of all ages. Expect everything from conga lines to limbo at this lively concert. Visit his website at Everyone is invited.

The kickoff fun continues Friday, June 5, with magician Gary Kantor performing a magic show at 1:30 p.m. and a one-hour magic workshop at 2:30 p.m. Kantor has been giving children a glimpse into the mystifying world of magic with his shows and workshops for many years.
