Elgin man, 33, hospitalized after being shot

A 33-year-old man suffered multiple wounds after being shot Wednesday morning in Elgin, police said.

Elgin police responded to a reported shooting on the 0-100 block of DuBois Avenue around 3:50 a.m., where the victim was found. He was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. The man's name has not been released and his condition was not available as of early Wednesday night.

Deputy Chief Bill Wolf said the crime was not a random act nor was it gang related.

As of 5:20 p.m., nobody was in custody for the crime, and Wolf said no other updates were available.

Detectives from the Major Investigations Division are conducting an investigation.
