Maybe a murder every 23 hours?

I would like to commend John Noll on his opinion letter in the May 6 Daily Herald. Ever since the Ferguson, Missouri, incident I have been thinking the same thoughts but couldn't find the correct words to express those thoughts.

However, I think there might be an error in the number for murder rate. If there were a murder every 23 minutes in Chicago the result would be 22,852 murders per year. Even for Chicago that is a very unrealistic number. Maybe it should have been one murder every 23 hours.
