Spalding helps Grayslake Central advance

Lauren Spalding scored in regulation and converted in penalty kicks, as well, as Grayslake Central's girls soccer team edged Wauconda 3-2 in a Class 2A regional semifinal at Carmel Catholic on Wednesday night.

Each team scored a goal in each half. Joslynn Smith also tallied in regulation for No. 9 Grayslake Central (11-7), which will play top-seeded Carmel (15-3-1) in Friday's 6 p.m. championship match.

In the PKs, Grayslake Central also got goals from Anna Sizelove and Kayley Larson. Rams keeper Payton Gosell made 7 saves.

No. 8 Wauconda finished 10-7-3.
