Winston Campus, Hunting Ridge team up to pack food for charity

Nineteen students from Jamie Schaeffer's third-grade class at Winston Campus Elementary, and 25 students from Kristie Charles' and Shirley Swiatowy's third-grade classes from Hunting Ridge School came together with their families to volunteer with Feed My Starving Children.

Feed My Starving Children is a not-for-profit organization that packs and sends meals to children of Third World countries who need the food in order to survive.

The families worked hard to pack Manna Meals made up of vitamins, vegetables, soy, and rice to send to starving children in Madagascar. All together, they packed enough food to feed 52 children for an entire year!

Schaeffer's students also filled up canisters with quarters, each of which provided 63 additional meals.

"These third-graders learned an important lesson about giving back and making a difference in the life of a child across the world," said Andrew Tieman, Winston Campus Elementary principal.
