Former Carpentersville teacher charged with sex assault of minor

A former Carpentersville teacher has been charged with having inappropriate sexual contact with a minor, Kane County officials say.

Lindsay P. Anderson, 26, of the 900 block of Foxwood Circle in Geneva, is charged with one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated sexual abuse, according to a news release by the Kane County state's attorney's office.

Anderson had worked at Carpentersville Middle School, but her most recent employment with District 300 was in September 2014, school officials said.

Officials say that Anderson had sexual contact with the victim between April 1 and May 8. The victim's parents notified East Dundee police, officials said.

She was arrested Friday, charged Saturday and appeared Sunday in a Kane County bond court. Her bail was set at $100,000. She posted $10,000 as bond and was released.

"This issue is being addressed by law enforcement. The district did not have any knowledge of these specific allegations," said Anthony McGinn, District 300's director of public relations and community services. "District 300's top priority is student safety. Additionally, our district has worked tirelessly to establish a culture of trust within our schools and our community. Anything that threatens to erode student safety or our culture of trust is something we take very, very seriously."

Anderson is expected in court again at 9 a.m. June 4.

As a condition of her bond, she's not allowed to have any contact with the victim, be within 150 of the victim's residence, and cannot have unsupervised contact with any child who is not an immediate family member.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Anderson faces a sentence of between four and 15 years in prison.
