Arlington Heights Senior Center Celebrates National Senior Health & Fitness Day on May 27th
The Arlington Heights Senior Center will join an estimated 1,000 local groups to celebrate the 22nd Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day (NSHFD) on Wednesday, May 27th, 2015.
As an official host site, the Arlington Heights Senior Center, 1801 W. Central Road, will hold an interesting variety of presentations and free health screenings all morning long.
On this day, the Arlington Heights Senior Center will join with an estimated 100,000 seniors across the country expected to help promote active, healthy lifestyles through physical fitness, good nutrition and preventive care. According to Karie Van Grinsven, "Our Health & Fitness Day event is a wonderful opportunity for seniors to make, renew, and revitalize their commitment to live healthier lives through better health and fitness."
Doors open at 8:30 a.m. with free tote bags and complimentary breakfast snacks for the first 250 guests.
The morning will include free screenings for the following: Blood pressure, posture, fall risk and BMI, as well as hearing screenings provided by the Lions Club. An annual highlight, Harper College Massage Therapy students will offer complimentary massages.
Special hourly presentations include MyPlate® Guidelines at 9:00 a.m., followed by Brain Games for Mental Fitness at 10:00 a.m. and keynote speaker and professional organizer, Lynn Gooding, CPO-CD® sharing practical strategies for de-cluttering your life as she presents "Are You Stressed About Your Mess?" at 11:00 a.m. Free prize drawings will be held after each presentation.
