Quintana, White Sox shut down Brewers

MILWAUKEE - Before Chris Sale shut down the Brewers in Tuesday's 4-2 win, White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper made a pretty obvious observation.

"Our starters haven't been as consistent as we'd like," Cooper said.

One night after Sale bounced back strong, Jose Quintana followed suit.

In his best outing of the season, Quintana allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 7 innings to go with 10 strikeouts.

The Sox beat Milwaukee 4-2 at Miller Park.

Outscored 24-7 in the first inning heading into the game, the White Sox jumped on Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson for 3 runs their first time up.

Avisail Garcia and Adam LaRoche highlighted the big opening inning with back-to-back home runs.

Melky Cabrera got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly in the first, and Emilio Bonifacio added an RBI single in the seventh inning.

Check back later for more on Quintana and the White Sox' win over the Brewers.
