Man seriously hurt in crash near St. Charles

A Bloomingdale man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a two-car crash Wednesday morning near St. Charles, according to a news release from the Kane County sheriff's office.

Mario Castillo, 33, was driving a Cadillac east on Seminary Drive around 6:40 a.m. and failed to stop at a stop sign at Route 25 in St. Charles Township, according to the release.

Castillo pulled out in front of a southbound Jeep Wrangler driven by Samuel Ogden, 27, of unincorporated St. Charles.

Both men were taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva.

Ogden's injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening, according to the sheriff's office.

Neither man appeared to be wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators have not determined if drugs, alcohol or the use of electronic devices played a role in the crash. No charges have been issued.
