Man in custody for shooting gun on Megabus

A man is in police custody after firing a gun on a Megabus near the Des Plaines oasis late Tuesday night, authorities said.

Illinois State Police said 50 people were riding the Megabus from Union Station in Chicago to Minneapolis when the gun was fired in the bathroom about 11:30 p.m.

Passengers tackled the man as he exited the bathroom, authorities said. The man was held by passengers until the bus pulled over at the Des Plaines oasis on I-90 and police arrived.

No one was injured.

The man has not been cooperative and will not provide his name, authorities said. He is being held at the Des Plaines Police Department. Charges are pending.
