Palatine's Hog Dog Richie's Celebrates 40 Years

Since 1975, Hot Dog Richie's on Northwest Highway at Colfax Street has been serving up it's hot and fresh menu to the residents of Palatine and the surrounding suburbs.

Owner Jason Marzullo, who bought the business in 1999, took a Palatine staple and has made it into an integral part of the local community.

"Having a young family myself, I understand the importance of getting involved and supporting the local community," Marzullo said. "I have strived to do that since taking the business over."

And Hot Dog Richie's has done just that; from sponsoring numerous sports teams, to proving concessions for PAFA (Palatine Amateur Football Association) and the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce's 'Rock'in the Blocks' event, to hosting fundraisers for Palatine native Rosie Colucci who has an inoperable brain tumor, to catering local school events, Palatine High School's prom, and so much more.

"I've loved being here in Palatine," Marzullo said. "This community has continued to grow and thrive and I feel humbled to be a part of it."

Marzullo's business model has always included cooking up each menu item to order, which might take a bit longer, but something he believes sets him ahead of any 'competition.'

To celebrate 40 years in business, Hot Dog Richie's will feature a month full of specials, in addition to buy one hot dog, get the second FREE from Monday, May 18-Sunday, May 24.

"I'm doing this to say thank you to all of our patrons for supporting us over the years," Marzulllo said. "And maybe to bring in a few new people to try us out."

In addition to dining in, Hot Dog Richie's also offers carry-out, and catering through a division of the business called Mia and Luca's Catering, which is named after Marzullo's children.
