No excuse for animal cruelty
A recent Daily Herald Page 1 story featured a woman devoted to caring for adopted, aging cocker spaniels. From experience, I know older pets require attention, care and money. This woman is a kind and generous human.
But the dark side of how humans treat animals is evident in the Herald's Page 1 story April 23 about "beaten, tortured pit bulls." How can anyone be so inhumane?
Love or hate pit bulls or other animals, killing them in such an incredibly brutal way is incomprehensible. Let's not forget that the three dogs were killed over a period of time, not in a single episode of rage.
To me, that means their killer knew what he was doing.
I hope the perpetrator is convicted and is sentenced to the maximum term. I also hope psychological tests don't erroneously show the killer as depressed, abused as a child, whatever. No excuses: Cruel is cruel.
