Two-wheelers take on Arlington Heights in bike tour

The sound of a air compressor broke through the fog Saturday morning as more than 100 people, some as young as 2, set out to tour bike routes and trails in and around Arlington Heights.

"Nice and slow" is how Claudia Daulton of Arlington Heights approached the 15-mile Bike Arlington Heights community bike tour. She and her daughter Elizabeth, 17, brought water and muscle to ride the leisurely bike tour along with others on racing, mountain, tandem and recumbent bikes.

The tour was "a great way to promote safe cycling" and show how biking is a great way to get where you want to go, said Peter Szabo, chairman of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission of Arlington Heights.
