Anima enrolling for musical summer camps
Anima/Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus is enrolling students in its three summer camp programs: the Summer Music Academy, Treble Sing Camp and KidSingers Sing Camp.
Summer Music Academy, for students entering grades five through nine, will focus on vocal techniques, musicianship skills, acting techniques, and opera/musical theater repertoire. The academy will be led by Anima Assistant Music Director Brandon Pemberton, and Glenbard West High School English and theater teacher Michael Moran.
Classes will meet 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 15 to 19 at St. Petronille Church, 420 Glenwood Ave., Glen Ellyn. The week will conclude with a free performance for friends and family of opera and musical theater scenes learned throughout the week. Summer Music Academy registration is $235.
Treble Sing Camp will give students entering grades two to four an introduction to Anima's award-winning music education program. Students learn how to express themselves with a healthy vibrant sound, play musical games that teach them how music is put together, and work together with others who like to sing.
Taught by Anima's assistant music director, Treble Sing Camp will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 22 to 24 at the Glen Ellyn Main Street Recreation Center, 501 Hill Ave., Glen Ellyn. Registration is $145.
KidSingers Camp will provide an atmosphere of joy and discovery for the littlest singer, those entering kindergarten and first grade. Children will learn the difference between using their singing and speaking voice, move to music, develop early aural skills, and develop self-confidence in relationship with others.
The camp meets 1:10 to 2 p.m. June 22 to 26 at the Glen Ellyn Main Street Recreation Center, and is taught by Sally Hepler, Anima's KidSingers instructor. KidSingers Sing Camp registration is $75.
