Grayslake baseball history
A history of baseball in Grayslake will be presented by the Grayslake Historical Society at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, in the Community Room of the Grayslake Heritage Center, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake.
The public is invited to the free program. Refreshments will be served. The program will present little-known and interesting facts about baseball in Grayslake. Attendees will learn about Grayslake native Jay Hook who made it to the big leagues and other Grayslake residents who in their baseball careers rubbed elbows with famous players. Also to be discussed will be the various teams in the village and the places in Grayslake and the area where games were played. It is the first of many baseball-themed programs to be presented this summer in conjunction with the museum exhibit "Sox vs. Cubs: The Chicago Civil Wars" that runs June 6 through Sept. 24 in the museum.
