Battle of the Bands takes stage in Naperville
Eight high school rock bands will go guitar-to-guitar Friday, May 15, when they compete in the Naperville Park District Youth Ambassadors' 12th annual Battle of the Bands.
The free event will run 5 to 8 p.m. at the Community Concert Center in Central Park, 104 E. Benton Ave.
The bands, representing four schools, were selected as finalists based on their applications and the quality of their demo recordings. Here's the lineup:
• 5 p.m. Black Diamond - Naperville Central
• 5:25 p.m. Fire Trill - Neuqua Valley
• 5:40 p.m. Decepted/Destined - Naperville North
• 6:05 p.m. Whatever You're Into - Neuqua Valley
• 6:30 p.m. Where it Starts - Neuqua Valley
• 6:55 p.m. Authorized Personnel - Waubonsie Valley
• 7:20 p.m. Dead Yet Alive - Naperville North
• 7:45 p.m. Something To Live By - Neuqua Valley
The first-place winner will perform at the Naperville Exchange Club's Ribfest at a time to be determined and will advance to the Illinois Park District Association's Regional Battle of the Bands with a chance to perform at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield.
The second- and third-place finishers will play at the Naperville Park District's Rollin' on the River series on the Riverwalk Friday, June 5.
Performances will be followed by the awarding of the top honors. The event is scheduled to conclude around 8 p.m.
Concert T-shirts listing all of the bands will be available for $15 at the event.
The Youth Ambassadors is a group of high school students who work with the Naperville Park District to plan communitywide special events for teens each year.
