White Sox bats fall silent in 4-1 loss to Tigers

Trailing the Tigers 6-3 Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Field, the White Sox rallied for 4 runs in the eighth inning and emerged with a 7-6 win.

"It's a boost for these guys any time you get late life," manager Robin Ventura said. "You're going against a team that's won our division the past few years, so it's a big boost."

The Sox should have had some serious momentum heading into Thursday afternoon's game against Detroit, but the bats went silent again in a 4-1 loss.

Avisail Garcia's RBI single in the fourth inning was the extent of the White Sox' offense.

The Sox appeared to be in great shape in the fourth. After Garcia singled to tie the game at 1, the White Sox loaded the bases with no outs against Tigers starter Kyle Lobstein.

Alexei Ramirez grounded into a double play that erased Garcia at third base and Jose Abreu at home, and Gordon Beckham grounded out to end the inning.

Lobstein pitched 7⅔ innings and allowed 1 run on 5 hits.

Sox starter Jose Quintana allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings while throwing 107 pitches. Quintana had 8 strikeouts.
