Wojtas paces Palatine's win over Prospect
Palatine used a 7-goal effort from senior Caroline Wojtas to earn a 13-3 victory over Prospect on Monday in the matchup of second-place finishers from the Mid-Suburban League's West and East Divisions.
Caitlin McHugh (2 goals), Mathilde Mogensen (2) and Kristin Anderson (1) also scored for Palatine, and Tess O'Brien stopped 12 shots and also scored a goal.
Senior Danielle McCallister came up with all 3 goals for the Knights.
Schaumburg 7, Buffalo Grove 1: Britney Vasquez (3 goals), Becca Kasner (2), Danielle Grubb and Renata Varga (1 apiece) provided the scoring as the Saxons won the MSL's fifth-place crossover.
Elk Grove 7, Hoffman Estates 1: Lily Lawrin had a team-best 4 goals and Alyssa Rosenorn provided assists on 6 scores to help the visiting Grenadiers win in the MSL's sixth-place crossover.
Junior Sydney Elkins had the goal for Hoffman Estates.
Barrington 9, Rolling Meadows 8 (OT): Mia Latimer scored a team-best 5 goals and Ellie Connors made 6 saves to help the Fillies outlast the Mustangs in the MSL's fourth-place crossover.
Sarah Luedloff had 6 of the goals for Rolling Meadows and Betsy Zanocco stopped 7 shots.
• Fremd defeated Hersey in the league's third-place crossover.
Stevenson 16, Conant 1: The state's top-ranked team picked up a decisive win against the Mid-Suburban West champs in nonconfernece play and Melissa Gartenberg scored a team-best 5 goals for the Patriots.
Goalie Maddy Demaret made 9 saves and also had 9 steals for the Cougars.
Conant hosts Wheeling in the Mid-Suburban League championship game at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
