25 more years for Aurora murderer
Enrique L. Torres shot two men on the same day in 2007 - one of them fatally - and he will now spend the rest of his life in prison.
Torres, 31, a gang member formerly of Aurora, was sentenced to 25 years in prison Wednesday for wounding a man on the Kane County side of Aurora on April 14, 2007.
This sentence will be served after a 60-year term for a murder he committed on the DuPage County side of Aurora.
Torres was convicted in October of attempted murder in Kane County and sentenced by Judge James Hallock.
In a four-day trial, prosecutors argued that Torres fired at least seven shots at a car at Summit and Hill avenues on Aurora's east side because he thought two rival gang members were in the car.
The two men were actually looking to buy crack cocaine, according to trial testimony; another gang member cut a deal with prosecutors to testify against Torres.
Shell casings found at the scene also matched Torres' gun.
Torres must first serve his 60-year prison term for killing Edgar Hill, 35, in an Aurora hotel parking lot in DuPage County, also on April 14, 2007.
Torres was sentenced in 2011 for Hill's death after his conviction in DuPage County court.
