St. Viator pounded out 17 hits in 5 innings to top St. Patrick for a second straight day in East Suburban Catholic Conference baseball, this time by a 17-4 score in a game played at Oakton Community College.
Ben Dickey went 3-for-3 and stole 2 bases, while Matt Darling doubled, tripled and drove in 4 runs for the Lions. Jack Coney, Kevn Monston and Mack Rooney drove in 2 runs apiece for St. Viator (16-6, 5-3), and Cole Kmet earned a victory.
Deerfield 4, Maine West 1: Tommy Hanson had a strong pitching performance for Maine West, allowing only 4 hits and 1 earned run in 6 innings, but Deerfield still managed to outscore the Warriors 4-1 on Tuesday in Central Suburban North baseball action.
Crosley Duckmann went 1-for-3 and drove in Maine West's only run with a single. The Warriors (10-8) finished with 4 hits, none for extra bases.
Downers Grove South 8, Leyden 2: Jeremey Borgess doubled twice, but the Eagles (8-10) couldn't match the Mustangs' run production in West Suburban Gold play.
