Hampshire 3, McHenry 0: Xavier-bound pitcher Trey Schramm threw a 101-pitch 3-hitter to lift the Whip-Purs in this Fox Valley Conference crossover. Schramm walked 2 and struck out 10. Tyler Schutt had 2 of the 5 hits Hampshire (11-3, 4-4) managed against McHenry starting pitcher Michael Lasiewicz, who went the distance.
Libertyville 9, Huntley 2: Ryan McGran went 2-for-4 with a double and Brandon Meyer doubled, but the Red Raiders were outhit 10-4 in this nonconference meeting. Noah Konie took the loss after allowing 8 earned runs on 8 hits in 4⅓ innings.
Waubonsie Valley 3, Bartlett 2: The Hawks tied this Upstate Eight Valley game with an unearned run in the top of the sixth, but the Warriors scored the go-ahead run on Quinton Zielke's RBI single in the bottom of the inning. Tripp Paris took the loss for Bartlett (10-8, 7-4) despite limiting first-place Waubonsie Valley (14-3, 9-1) to 3 earned runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
Geneva 2, Larkin 1 (9 inn.): Matt Simpson's run-scoring single in the top of the ninth lifted the Vikings to the Upstate Eight River win. Will King pitched all 9 innings for the Royals. The senior limited the damage from 12 hits and a walk with 8 strikeouts in a 101-pitch outing. Jon Lenz in the sixth inning drove in the only run for Larkin (7-12, 4-8), which dropped its third straight.
Batavia 8, Elgin 2: The Bulldogs used a 6-run fourth inning to open an 8-0 lead en route to this Upstate Eight River victory. Scotty Palmer allowed 8 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits and 4 walks and he struck out 4 in 4 innings for Elgin (6-15, 2-8). Batavia starting pitcher Evan Acosta struck out 12 Maroons in 6 innings.
West Chicago 11, Streamwood 1 (6 inn): Junior Alvarez had 2 of Streamwood's 3 hits and Keagan Cordone had the other against Wildcats pitcher Peyton Siedler in this Upstate Eight River loss. Seidler held the Sabres to an unearned run on 3 hits and 5 walks and struck out 5. Jonah Seckel took the loss for Streamwood (4-13, 3-8).
Burlington Central 18, Johnsburg 9: Max Judnic went 4-or-5 with a double, a home run and 3 RBI, Ryan Anderson homered and drove in 2, Tanner Smith finished 5-for-6 with a double and 5 RBI and Andrew Lauber and John Murphy each doubled twice to lead a 22-hit barrage by the Rockets in the Big Northern East. Jake Johnson pitched 3⅔ innings to post the win for Burlington Central (16-3, 8-0).
Glenbard South 4, St. Edward 3: Kyle Carli's solo home run in the fifth tied this Metro Suburban Conference game 3-3 and Robbie McGimpsey's go-ahead RBI single in the sixth was the different for the Raiders. Green Wave starting pitcher Alex Lara limited Glenbard South to 4 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits and a walk and he struck out 3 in 6 innings. Jake LaFrenz doubled and David Groves had 2 of the 4 hits for St. Edward (5-12).
Westminster Christian 10, Christian Liberty Academy 0 (5 inn.): Justin Rasmussen finished 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI, Brendan Ruffolo went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Frank Anguilo drove in 2 and Jarrett Mueller and Ian Merlak each doubled to lead a 12-hit attack in this Northeaster Athletic Conference win. Rasmussen held the Chargers to 3 hits and no walks and struck out 10 in 5 innings for Westminster Christian (11-10, 8-1).
