White Sox knock off Royals 3-2 in suspended game

Thursday's brawl with the Royals is still a hot topic, but fighting wasn't on White Sox manager Robin Ventura's mind Sunday.

"Everybody's back to just playing baseball," Ventura said. "It was an isolated incident on Thursday. There are two games on the line today. I see us focusing on the game rather than all the peripheral stuff."

On Sunday, the Sox and Kansas City resumed Friday night's game, which was suspended by rain with the score tied at 2 after 8 innings.

The Royals batted in the ninth inning and David Robertson struck out the side while pitching over an error by first baseman Jose Abreu.

In the bottom of the ninth, Melky Cabrera drew a two-out walk off Kelvin Herrera and after advancing to second base, Abreu was intentionally walked.

Avisail Garcia followed with a bloop single to left field that scored Cabrera and lifted the White Sox to a 3-2 win.

"It's bizarre," Ventura said. "Anytime you resume a game it's weird; it has a weird feeling. The guys who were even starting the game, I'm sure it's uncomfortable for them. For us, it's good to get win, good to get it started like that."
