Images: Naperville through the years Retro Gallery
In this week's Retro Gallery, we look back at the city of Naperville featuring images from the early 1900s through the 1950s. North Western College athletics established a firm foothold in Naperville in the early 1900s, competing in basketball, track and baseball. The school -- not to be confused with Northwestern University in Evanston -- would later change its name to North Central College.
Parades have always been popular in Naperville, especially the early Booster Day parades of 1917, which were associated with North Western College.
A fierce windstorm on March 24, 1915, destroyed a portion of the Naperville Lounge Companies, which became the Kroehler Manufacturing Company.
And in the fall of 1922, St. Peter and Paul Church broke ground.
So take a walk down memory lane with us. Reminisce about that special time, place or person in your life from back in the day. Share your memories. Share your photos with #RetroGallery. Tell us what you'd like to see in future galleries.
