Behan's big effort helps Carmel past St. Viator

Jenny Behan was at it again with the bat for Carmel Catholic's softball team.

Behan went 3-for-4 with 2 home runs, including a grand slam, and 7 RBI, as the Corsairs pounded St. Viator 22-5 in East Suburban Catholic Conference action Wednesday.

Carmel (14-2) scored 19 runs in the first two innings. The Corsairs also got home runs from Jen Giesey (3-for-5, 3 RBI) and Amanda Elert (3-for-5, 2 RBI), while Emma Bartz was 4-for-4 with 4 RBI. Claire Petrus picked up the win.

Warren 8, Lake Zurich 1: Sabrina Trevino hit her ninth homer of the season in an eight-run sixth inning for the Blue Devils in the North Suburban Lake contest.

Trevino (3 RBI), Shannon McKeon and Amber Leneau each had 2 hits for Warren. Trevino, McKeon and Mollie Peter (2 RBI) all doubled.

Lake Zurich got 2 hits, including a triple, from Brittney Pettinger.

Mundelein 7, Deerfield 3: Karlee Busscher belted her eighth homer of the season, and Maria DeVito also hit a home run for the host Mustangs in the nonconference game.

Amanda Diaz and Kaitlyn Griffin both doubled and went 2-for-3 for Mundelein (14-4). Maddie Zazas and DeVito both were 2-for-4.

Breanna Adams went the distance in the circle for the Mustangs, striking out five, walking two and allowing 7 hits.

Round Lake 19, Woodlands Academy 2: Ashley Wegner and Kylie Bart homered for the Panthers in their nonconference win.

Wegner finished 4-for-5 with 6 RBI, while Liz Vandergrif was 4-for-4 with 3 runs scored. Raven Nicoline added a 3-for-4 performance with 3 RBI. The Panthers got 2 hits apiece from Mike Crisantos (double), Bart (3 RBI), Hayley Steinberg (3 RBI) and Amanda Olsen (2 RBI). Wegner also doubled twice.

Prairie Ridge 7, Grayslake Central 5: The Rams lost in Fox Valley Conference action, despite home runs from Katie Strickland and Teagan Truskowski, each of whom drove in a pair of runs.

Reagen Radke and Truskowski were both 2-for-4. Truskowski also doubled, as Grayslake Central fell to 10-10 and 1-2.
