The Kane County Cougars dropped a 2-1 decision to the Clinton LumberKings in a Wednesday matinee at Fifth Third Ballpark in Geneva.

The Cougars' Brad Keller (0-2) posted a quality start with 10 strikeouts in 6 innings, but the 2 runs he allowed in the fourth saddled him with the loss. The bullpen of the Cougars (5-9) provided 3 shutout innings hitless baseball, as Bud Jeter and Jency Solis combined for four strikeouts.

Cody Regis had an RBI single in the second that scored Steve McQuail, but the Cougars left the bases loaded.

In todday's 11 a.m. series finale, the Cougars send Markus Solbach (1-0, 0.77 ERA) against Lukas Schiraldi (0-1, 8.22).
