New McDonald's to replace old in Hoffman Estates

Hoffman Estates officials have approved a plan for a new, larger McDonald's restaurant to replace the old, outdated building at Barrington Square Town Center on Higgins Road, just east of Barrington Road.

Construction of the new building is expected to begin in spring 2016, about a year from now, to the west of the existing building and east of Buona Beef.

Peter Gugliatta, Hoffman Estates' director of planning, building and code enforcement, said the old McDonald's will be razed as soon as the new one is open. The owners of the shopping center will then market the site for a new outlot tenant.
