Antioch High to stage 'The Music Man'

Be prepared to hear the sounds of "Seventy-Six Trombones" in the auditorium of Antioch Community High School as the Fine Arts Department presents "The Music Man" starting April 23.

Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 23-25, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the high school, 1133 Main St., Antioch.

Meredith Willson's classic show is based on a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey. The plot concerns con man Harold Hill, who poses as a boys' band organizer and leader and sells band instruments and uniforms to the naive Iowa townsfolk.

He meets his match in the prim librarian Marian Paroo and the "Iowa stubborn" citizens of River City, Iowa.

Classic songs include "Seventy-Six Trombones," "(Ya Got) Trouble," "My White Knight" and "Till There Was You."

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for kids and seniors and are available at the Seat Yourself website, seatyourself.biz, or the door.

For details, call the school at (847) 395-1421.
