Trahan's big hit rallies Cougars past Bees

BURLINGTON, Iowa - The Kane County Cougars rallied for 2 runs in the eighth inning to sting the Burlington Bees 4-3 on Tuesday.

The win was the second straight for the Cougars (2-4), who took the lead with runs in the third and fourth innings. Marty Herum collected an RBI groundout and Jose Queliz scored on an error.

After the Bees retook the lead in the fifth inning, Stryker Trahan delivered a pinch double that drove home a pair of teammates in the eighth and give the Cougars a 4-3 lead.

Cougars starter Brent Jones worked 6⅔ innings and allowed 3 runs but was not involved in the decision. Bud Jeter provided 1⅓ shutout relief innings and earned his first win of the season. Zac Curtis picked up his first save with a scoreless ninth.

The Cougars return home to fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva for a three-game series starting today at 6:30 p.m. against the Clinton LumberKings. Jared Miller (0-1, 12.00 ERA) will take the mound against Clinton's Daniel Missaki (0-0, 3.00).
