N. Barrington reveals Tree of the Year winner

The village of North Barrington is honoring its first Tree of the Year. A Bur Oak located on Thomas Drive, in Oaksbury, was selected because of its exceptional size and form. Each year the village plans to honor a Tree of the Year in recognition of the aesthetic value trees provide to the North Barrington landscape.

"Such a large oak speaks to the history of North Barrington," says village Forester Susan Allman. She continues, "This oak has been growing here long before the village was incorporated. That it continues to thrive is a testimonial to the many land owners who have taken care of the tree through the generations."

The homeowners, Matt and Alexis Wormly were presented with a Tree of the Year plaque as part of North Barrington's Arbor Day celebration on April 22 at North Barrington's village hall, 111 Old Barrington Road.
