Panel of experts to discuss teen parties and the law
Parents can gain an understanding of the teen party scene from experts in the next installment of the Glenbard Parent Series.
"Parents, Teens, Parties and the Law: Emerging Trends in the Teen Party Scene" begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Glenbard East High School, 1014 S. Main St., Lombard.
Presented by the Glenbard Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families, the event will be a discussion of the realities of the tough teen topics by a panel of experts. Attendees will learn about the social trends and alcohol and drug issues affecting youth today; their responsibilities as a parent; how to negotiate the parent-teen relationship; and tips to secure a positive future for their teen.
Panel members include Milton Creagh, a nationally recognized speaker and media personality with a common sense message of down-to-earth ideas to aid in parenting and instilling strong values in teens.
Judge Christopher Stride, associate circuit judge, 19th Judicial Court, presided over the landmark Deerfield case in which parents were held responsible for allowing alcohol at a teen party in their home with tragic consequences.
Retired police detective Bruce Talbot is dedicated to sharing information on illegal street, synthetic, designer, over-the-counter drugs and underage age alcohol use. Talbot was called as an expert witness before two U.S. Senate committees and is an author.
This frank presentation is open to the public and will provide parents with answers and advice to guide teens to a healthy life.
