Cary kite flying event takes off
Mother Nature took a break Saturday and provided everyone with a beautiful - albeit slightly windy - Saturday for Cary Park District's family kite-fly event at Lions Park.
The event is part of the Illinois Association of Park Districts' statewide Flying 4 Kids month, which aims to raise awareness of the association's youth license plate. Twenty-five dollars from each sale and renewal of the plates benefits the IAPD Power Play grant program, which provides beyond-school youth programming at park districts and recreation and conservation agencies in the state.
The park district was a recipient two years in a row of a Power Play Grant used for the E.T. KidZone
before and after school program.
Scott Reinier of Crystal Lake, left, and his son James, 13, keep an eye on their kite Saturday at Lions Park in Cary during the Illinois Association of Park Districts' statewide Flying 4 Kids celebration.
