Believe Project: $100 for hairdresser who's sick and in need of money

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Maria Sroga of Palatine.

Here is an excerpt of her suggestion:

"My friend's name is Nina. I only know her through my visits to my hair dresser in Palatine. Nina is not my hairstylist, but I have spoken to her over the years. And although she listens to everyone else's problems that are shared, I have become aware of hers. She works two jobs and finally has gotten her own small apartment close to work so she can walk there, but now she is in the hospital. She was in horrible pain but did not have insurance, but she finally received her Medicaid card. But that won't cover her loss of income.

"My own daughter is a hairdresser, so I understand what most people who have jobs don't understand. Hairdressers do not get paid sick days or vacation days. They work regardless.

"I call her my friend because I feel her pain and wish I could personally help her. I'm in my mid 60s and my husband and I live off of his income from a factory job. God bless you if you can help my friend, who I know would feel so blessed."

• The Believe Project mails a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else. However, all of the money collected has been committed and we no longer are accepting submissions.
