Bikes & Bites on the Fox coming to downtown Elgin

The Elgin Area Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the first "Bikes and Bites on the Fox Festival" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 30, along Riverside Drive in downtown Elgin. Admission is free.

Foodies and bike enthusiasts alike will unite for food trucks, bike activities, free family events and a farmers market along the Fox River. This free event kicks off biking season as May is National Bike Month and promotes biking on the Fox River Bike Trail. There will be activities for kids and adults alike. As part of the festivities, food trucks will be open for business for event attendees to indulge in local food options. A farmers market will provide attendees the opportunity to browse through local produce and goods.

Many partners within the community will be sponsoring activities and assisting the Elgin Area Convention and Visitors Bureau promote bike safety and biking along the Fox River Bike Trail.

The Elgin Symphony Orchestra will provide an instrument petting zoo for children. The YWCA of Elgin will have a Kids Craft Corner. A bags tournament will be provided by the Elgin Young Professionals Network and the Elgin Bicycling and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will provide a bike corral.

In addition, there will be performances from local artists throughout the day.
