Believe Project: $100 for a girl and her mom, both of whom are ill

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Kelly Behrens of Arlington Heights.

Here is an excerpt of her suggestion:

"The Believe Project gift of $100 would help with a sixth-grader named Cordelia's medical bills and transportation costs. For seven years Cordelia has had pulmonary hypertension, a cardiovascular disease that constricts blood vessels and forces the heart to work harder than it should. The problem is that it causes most movement to be difficult, and it can make people really short of breath, even when they just walk across a room. This condition is so disabling that it prevents Cordelia from doing things she loves, like taking dance lessons and going to school. There is no known cure for this disease. Her mother and primary caregiver, Juliet, was diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing chemo treatments at Northwestern."

• The Believe Project mails a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else.
