Civil War programs:

The Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake, will host two programs that commemorate major milestones in observation of the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War and the death of Abraham Lincoln. On Thursday, April 9, at 7 p.m., the Lake County Civil War Roundtable will stage a special program at the museum. It will host Jerry Kowalski, who will portray Union General George Thomas. April 9 marks the 150th anniversary of General Lee's surrender, and General Thomas will look back on his career and the events leading to that landmark day. On Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m., actress Lynn Rymarz will portray Mary Surratt, charged as a conspirator in Lincoln's assassination. There is a suggested donation of $3 for adults and $1 for children for Rymarz's performance.
