St. Edward sweeps Regina: The Green Wave remained unbeaten on the season, sweeping Regina Dominican in a nonconference doubleheader 11-1 and 10-3. In Game 1, junior Linsday Zdroik (4-0-1) struck out 11, didn't walk a batter and allowed just 4 hits. She also went 4-for-4 at the plate with 2 doubles and an RBI. Also contributing to the 15-hit attack for St. Edward were Devyn Ernst (3-for-3, 4 RBI), Allison Stratman (2-for-3), Rachel Lesh (2-for-4, 3B, 2 RBI), Megan Strong (2B, RBI) and Shannon McShane (RBI). Emily Stapay picked up the win in Game 2, allowing just 4 hits with 9 strikeouts, no walks and no earned runs allowed. The Wave (5-0-1) was led on offense by Strong (3-for-4, 2 SBs), Stapay (3-for-4, 2B, RBI), Ryann Scully (3-for-5, 2 doubles, 3 RBI), Zdroik (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI), Stratman (2-for-4, HR) and Ernst (2B, RBI).
CL South 3-0 at Rockford East: Three different Crystal Lake South pitchers allowed only 6 runs on the day while the Gators' offense pounded out 34 hits in going undefeated at the Rockford East tournament. CLS (5-0) beat Winnebago 15-0, Rockford East 18-4 and Rockford Boylan 6-2. Senior Hailee Massie had 5 hits and 4 RBI on the day and fired a complete-game 3-hitter with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in the win over Boylan. Brook Maddox had 7 hits (3 doubles) and 4 RBI, Jenica Terry had a home run and 3 doubles, Taylor Kassel had 6 hits (2 doubles) and 4 RBI and Carly Chovancek had 3 doubles for the Gators. Sam Burgard threw a 2-hitter to beat Rockford East and freshman Chloe Skorija got her first varsity win with a 4-hitter over Winnebago.
Larkin falls twice: Sophie Young (RBI), Alexa Urbanik (RBI) and Sarah Hansen (2B) each had 2 hits in the opener while Sam Wahl (2B) and Jocelyn Jimenez each had 2 hits in the nightcap but the Royals (0-4) fell to Sycamore 19-3 and 11-1 in nonconference play. Hansen and Emily Rojo took the pitching losses for Larkin.
DeKalb 3, Streamwood 0: The Sabres (3-3) managed just 3 hits off DeKalb's Megan Newport in this nonconference loss. Jessica Daley took the loss for Streamwood.
