Police: Woman robbed in Buffalo Grove preserve

Lake County Forest Preserve Ranger Police are searching for an armed robber who stole a cellphone from a female jogger Friday morning in the Buffalo Grove Forest Preserve.

The victim told police that at about 8:15 a.m., the robber grabbed her arm, threatened her with a screwdriver and took her phone before running toward Checker Road.

The jogger was uninjured, and her cellphone was later located only about one block from the scene of the attack, police said.

The robber was described as a Hispanic man, 25 to 35 years old, with a short and heavyset build.
