Glen Ellyn students perform Stations of the Cross

Christians across the region and around the world are observing Good Friday today with services, vigils and other activities to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Several area churches and schools will present the Stations of the Cross to follow the footsteps of Jesus on the day of his crucifixion.

Third-graders at St. James the Apostle Catholic School in Glen Ellyn actually performed their version of the Stations of the Cross a week early, with Aidan Cascio portraying Jesus.

"The children spent many hours practicing, learning about the characters," teacher Monique Vodicka said. "(They're) just really focusing on … those last hours and days of Jesus before the resurrection on Sunday."
