Time for a change in Campton Hills
Time for a change in Campton Hills
I was a Campton Hills trustee for five years and have worked with some of the people seeking election on April 7.
It took leadership and thick skin to form the village. Opponents predicted increased taxes and other calamities. None happened. In fact, under the leadership of Patsy Smith the village's finances are sound and no money is being spent by her that doesn't benefit residents. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for certain trustees.
In a move motivated by a quest for power, instead of service to the community, the village board hired their own attorney and spent over $20,000. In addition, the election board fiasco cost thousands of dollars in legal and court reporter fees and wasted a lot of people's time. At least three of the people; Blecker, Andersen and George seeking election are responsible for this nonsense.
There are no laws against petty and disrespectful behavior, but anyone who has attended recent board meetings would be witness to and ashamed of the behavior of these trustees.
In my view, it is time for a change and new trustees need to be elected. Residents can't go wrong by electing any of these candidates: Turgeon, Sheluga, O'Dwyer or Galloway.
