Long Grove letter showed misplaced faith
I reflected on Maria Rodriguez' letter to the editor, especially her "complete confidence" endorsing the "investing" slate. It reminds me that endorsing a candidate carries with it great responsibility. I believe an endorsement should never be based on a long-standing friendship, but on integrity and the best qualifications.
My feelings are even stronger because this endorser has not been at a regular board meeting for the past four years to see with her own eyes how candidate Charlie Wachs disregards the opinion of both his colleagues and village residents.
A "tendency of grandstanding" with an "I have all the answers" attitude is the image Charlie Wachs conveys in the board room.
This is just one of many reasons residents have lost confidence in Wachs. He has demonstrated that he is not qualified to work well with others.
I whole-heartedly agree with Maria Rodriguez' statement that "The difference between 'good' and 'great' depends upon who is elected right now."
But I disagree with her poorly placed endorsement because Charlie Wachs has only endeavored to impose his own will with very little "cooperative spirit."
In my opinion, Wachs and his running mates, who have only been to a combined handful of board meetings, have not earned her endorsement, nor do they deserve to be elected to Long Grove's village board.
The candidates that do have integrity and who are well-qualified to serve our Village are Bill Jacob, Stanley Borys and Michael Sarlitto.
