Comfort dogs visit ECC day care

Comfort dogs visited children at Elgin Community College's campus day care Wednesday during their "Who Let The Dogs Out" story time.

The kids sang songs and did other activities with the dogs.

Lead day care teacher Kris Brown read a series of dog-related books to some of the 100 children cuddled up with their visitors and shared a few giggles and smiles.

Susie and Martin, golden retrievers and also both Lutheran Church Charities' K-9 comfort dogs sat patiently while the students took turns petting them.

The day care is for students and employees at the college's Elgin campus. It serves as a learning laboratory for students from the college's dental program who visit the day care to teach dental hygiene, while students majoring in elementary education read to the children.
