IDOT proposed roadway resurfacing improvements planned

The Illinois Department of Transportation will be resurfacing several roadway locations within the city of St. Charles and surrounding areas starting this spring.

The proposed work includes the following locations:

• Route 31: The project limits start in St. Charles at Wildrose Springs Drive and head north to Middle Road in South Elgin. The work in St. Charles is anticipated to start around May 1 and be completed around mid-June, with the remaining work to the north of St. Charles to be completed by midsummer. Motorists should expect daily lane closures during this work.

• Route 38: The project limits are from western Kane County starting at Route 47 to downtown Geneva at Route 31. The work is anticipated to begin in western Kane County and head east. Construction signs are scheduled to be placed beginning April 1, with the beginning of work to follow shortly after. Motorists should expect daily lane closures during the work west of Randall Road. Two lanes (one in each direction) will remain open for drivers at all times on Route 38 east of Randall Road to Route 31.

The Illinois Department of Transportation's contractor will begin road construction preparation work that includes adjusting manhole cover frames, street patching and curb improvements. This work, which is expected to be completed in four to six weeks, will take place during daytime hours on Route 38 in both directions from Route 31 west into Kane County.

The paving work will be broke down into a few sections as noted below.

The city is working with IDOT, the contractor, Kane County and the city of Geneva to finalize the schedule for this work.

More information will be published as it becomes available regarding the schedule for the paving work.

• Route 47 to Peck Road

• Peck Road to Bricher Road/South 14th Street

• Bricher Road/South 14th Street to Anderson Boulevard

• Anderson Boulevard to Route 31
